Top 6 Qualities of Highly Successful People
Top 6 Qualities of Highly Successful People
In this article, I will share 6 qualities of highly successful people as accumulated by Napoleon Hill in his famous book Think and Grow Rich. These traits of successful people can help you as well to be an extraordinary.
This book is the product of 25
years of research and the author interviewed more than 500 men who were highly
successful that time. And after research the author identified those qualities
which made them highly rich and prominent.
This book helped thousands of
people to become successful and rich. This is one of the most selling books in
the history.
The author identified and accumulated
the best qualities from these people as they were common in all of them. If
anyone wants to be great and successful, s/he can follow and implement those
traits in life.
These attributes or traits
can’t be happened by accident or luck, but they must be cultivated in a proper
way if you really want to bring success and happiness in life.
This is a high authority book
for self-improvement and effective life. This article is for the people who
don’t have time to read the book. I summarised these attributes as revealed by
the rich people of last century.
Following are the qualities as
exhibited by highly successful people from different fields.
1. Faith or Believe
Believe was a common factor and
quality among all of them. They believed they will success and do something
different in life.
The author mentioned it was
common in Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Bridgestone, and so on in
many as he interviewed.
Believe in oneself is the key
to success when no one does. In order to achieve anything it requires believing
in yourself and visualising yourself as successful.
Many of us listen to critics,
when you listen to critics you can’t achieve what you want. Always be
persistent in pursuit of your goals and don’t listen to your critics.
As mentioned by Napoleon Hill
in the book, ‘whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve’.
Faith or believe is the head
chemist of the mind. Your believe, or faith is the element that determines the
action of your subconscious mind. Subconscious mind can play an important role
in achieving success and happiness.
2. Specialised Knowledge
Napoleon Hill identified two
kinds of knowledge;
- General Knowledge
- Specialised Knowledge
The persons interviewed by the
author they all had specialised knowledge. As in the case of Henry Ford, he
specialised in automobiles. Bridgestone specialised in tyre manufacturing.
Andrew Carnegie specialised in steel industry. And so on there are hundred of
examples of the successful people who had specialised knowledge.
The way of success is the way
of continuous pursuit of knowledge. To be highly successful and extraordinary
in life not only requires knowledge but specialised knowledge.
Just having knowledge is not
enough, but it must be specialised or an individual must know how to use that
knowledge.
They are a lot of people they
have great knowledge but they are not aware of using it. Knowledge can not be
convert in money unless it is organised and intelligently directed through
practical plan of actions towards accumulation of money.
After acquiring knowledge it
must be organised and put into use for a definite purpose. The author stated,
successful people never stop acquiring specialised knowledge that is related to
their purpose, business, or profession.
So, general knowledge doesn't
help to accumulate money no matter how great in quantity or variety it is. Knowledge
is power when it is used, put in practical, and organised in a proper way.
3. Organised Planning
Success needs organised
planning. It is a great step towards riches. This is one of the essentials for
becoming successful and effective. It is important for success in any
undertaking designed to accumulate riches.
All successful men studied by
the author, they all had organised plannings in their lives. To be successful
in life we need organised planning. Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and many other
failed many many times, but they followed a plan which led them to success.
If one plan fails we must
create other rather than to give up and quit our mission and purpose. Henry
Ford failed at the beginning of his automobiles career, but he created new plan
to achieve his goals.
Many of us quit and give up
when it comes temporary failures. In this case we must accept the defeat or
failure as a signal that our plans are not sound. We must create new plannings
in order to achieve the purpose and goal.
A person who is highly
organised and planned becomes easily successful. On the other hand, who is
disorganised and unplanned doesn't get success in life. It doesn't mean we need
organised planning for something big but we can plan small things in life. And
those small plannings determine how successful a person is.
4. Decision Making
The decisions we make in life
can lead us to success or failure. The effective and extraordinary people take
timely decisions and they get what they want.
On the other hand, many people
have lack of decision or they procrastinate decision that leads them to
failure.
Lack of decision is one of the
30 major causes of failure as revealed by the author. Procrastination is the
opposite of decision that should be conquered by everyone.
The successful people who
accumulate millions of dollars all of them had habit of reaching decision
promptly and the change process of those decisions was slow if they needed to
be changed.
Sometimes, taking wrong
decision is better than lack of decision. Timely and prompt decisions can lead
us to success.
People who make decisions
promptly and definitely, they know what they want and generally get it. Great
and successful leaders decide quickly and firmly, therefore they influence
people.
For better decisions in life,
you have to manage your procrastination habit. It leads to indecision or not
taking timely decision.
5. Managing Emotions
Extraordinary people know how
to manage emotions. Emotions particularly negative emotions such as anger can
be destructive if not channelised in a better way.
The author studied
autobiographies of hundreds of years of different people and he mentioned, many
of the people succeeded because they manage their emotions in a positive way.
Naturally two emotions are very
important and those emotions are love and anger. These two emotions have the
power to destroy or create someone.
The important point is how to
manage these emotions in a positive way. All the successful people use emotions
as driving force to achieve anything in life. For example, if you don’t know
how to cope with your anger, it will hurt you rather than someone else.
First, to understand your
emotions then understanding the emotions of other people can lead you toward
success and effective life. Managing emotions in a positive way make you
creative.
6. Managing Fear
Fear is one of the obstacles
comes in the way of success. The author refers it ‘ghost of fear’. Almost
everyone suffers from fear in life.
Highly successful people know
how to manage their fear effectively in life. The most common fears are; fear
of poverty, fear of criticism, fear of ill health, fear of loss of love of
someone, fear of old age, and fear of death.
Fear is state of mind and
nothing more. This is fear where we don’t take decision, and fear stops us from
doing something different.
For example, many people don’t
take a step to do something different because they have fear of criticism. They
think if don’t get success the people will label me as a failure.
So, to be successful you need
to manage your fears. The highly successful people managed their fears in a
better way.

qualities of highly successful people that led them to great success. These
steps are very practical and easy to implement in life.
If you want to be successful
and effective in life then these steps for you to follow. This is the extract
and gist of the research which was completed in 25 years.
